Gaza Blockade Forces Soup Kitchens to Shut Down Amid Rising Hunger Crisis
Israel's blockade of Gaza has forced aid group World Central Kitchen to close its community soup kitchens due to depleted food stocks. The lack of supplies threatens Gaza's population with hunger and malnutrition as aid groups urge for humanitarian access to prevent starvation and further deterioration.

As humanitarian agencies face mounting challenges in Gaza, Israeli-imposed blockades have cut off vital supplies, severely impacting efforts to aid the war-torn enclave. In a desperate move, World Central Kitchen, a leading aid group, announced it has shut down its community soup kitchens after exhausting their food reserves.
Since the conflict began, the organization provided 133,000 meals daily and produced 80,000 loaves of bread weekly, a lifeline for many in the region. However, the persistent blockade has led to depleted warehouses, with no replenishment in sight, forcing operations to cease.
Rights organizations have decried the blockade as a "starvation tactic" and insist it poses a dire threat to the entire population. As the crisis deepens, calls for urgent humanitarian access to Gaza grow louder, emphasizing the pressing need to avert widespread starvation and suffering.
