A wedding procession in East Delhi turned chaotic when celebratory firing led to an injury of the mare on which the groom was riding. The incident, now being probed by police, occurred during the traditional 'ghudchadi' ceremony, when the groom customarily rides a decorated horse to the wedding venue.

Police sources revealed that Akash, who hails from Ashok Nagar, was the groom on the horse. Allegedly, a relative fired shots into the air, inadvertently striking the mare's leg. Although the groom escaped harm, the mare went into a frenzy, prompting Akash to walk to the venue, thus continuing the procession on foot.

Neeraj, the mare's owner from Mandoli, filed a complaint, citing a lack of immediate medical care for the animal in Delhi. The mare was subsequently transported to Hisar, Haryana, for treatment. Officials noted that a case, under the Arms Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, has been registered, while the suspect's whereabouts remain unknown.
