Reema Kagti's 'Superboys of Malegaon': A Modest Triumph

Reema Kagti's latest film, 'Superboys of Malegaon', has garnered positive audience reactions, despite its lower-than-expected box office performance, making around Rs 7 crore. The film, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2024, explores the life of Nasir Shaikh, a self-taught filmmaker in Maharashtra.

Kagti, known for other works like 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd' and 'Talaash', remains steadfast in her storytelling, refusing to cater to external pressures. She continues to forge ahead with new projects, including season two of 'Dahaad' and developing further collaborations with director Zoya Akhtar and producer Amazon MGM Studios.

In addition to her film endeavors, Kagti is pioneering a new music label, Tiger Baby Records, alongside Akhtar and Ankur Tewari. Their debut album, 'City Sessions', aims to foreground music over visuals and promote fresh talent across different cities in India.
