Maura Delpero's groundbreaking film 'Vermiglio' achieved a historic feat by winning Best Film and Best Director at the 70th David di Donatello Awards. Delpero distinguished herself as the first female director to clinch the prestigious Best Director award in the event's history, Deadline reported.

The film triumphed with seven awards in total, including Best Original Screenplay, Casting, Producer, Cinematography, and Sound. Set against the backdrop of a remote mountain village during 1944, 'Vermiglio' intricately explores the upheaval faced by a family following the arrival of a deserted soldier.

The night underscored a significant moment for female filmmakers. Margherita Vicario shone with wins for Best First Film, Composer, and Song for 'Gloria.' Timothee Chalamet, alongside Italian icon Ornella Muti, received a Special David Award for Cinematic Excellence, coinciding with his arrival in Rome accompanied by Kylie Jenner and his father, per Deadline.
