Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 164th birth anniversary. Sarma emphasized Tagore's significant impact on India's literary heritage, referring to him as an unparalleled figure in the nation's cultural landscape.
In a post on social media platform X, Sarma quoted lines from Tagore's patriotic song 'O Aamar Desher Mati', written in 1905, lauding the beauty of the motherland reflected in Tagore's works. The Chief Minister marked the occasion as Rabindra Jayanti, aligning with the Bengali calendar's date, 25th Baishakh.
In addition, officials disclosed plans for the finale of a competition featuring Tagore's dance and music, organized by the Assam Linguistic Minorities Development Board, to be held on May 12 at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.
