Mukesh Ambani, the wealthiest individual in Asia, is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump in Doha. The meeting marks their second encounter since Trump resumed presidency earlier this year. Ambani will be attending a state dinner hosted by the Emir of Qatar at the Lusail Palace, sources reveal.
Despite the absence of formal business discussions on the agenda, Ambani's conglomerate, Reliance Industries Ltd, is closely linked to US policy decisions. Previously, Reliance secured US waivers to import Venezuelan crude oil but ceased operations after the Trump administration imposed a 25% tariff.
Reliance's business interests extend beyond the US, with significant investment from Qatar's sovereign wealth fund into Ambani's retail enterprise. Furthermore, US tech giants, including Google and Meta, have invested in Reliance's digital adventures, underscoring the international scope of Ambani's business relationships.
