Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday assessed the preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra, slated to commence on July 3. Abdullah expressed contentment with the administration's efforts to ensure a comfortable pilgrimage experience. The 38-day Yatra will follow the Pahalgam and Baltal routes to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine.

In a meeting held in Jammu, Abdullah addressed the adequacy of essential services amid summer's intense heat, with officials including the Jammu Divisional Commissioner. A significant agenda item was the infrastructure and logistical arrangements for the Yatra, with emphasis on registration, lodgement, and route management.

Additionally, Abdullah reviewed the readiness of departments concerning power, water supply, and forest fire response. He called for wide publicity of highway cut-off timing for Yatra travellers and praised department plans to prevent power overloads and ensure water supply continuity, demonstrating a proactive approach to seasonal challenges.
