Andaman and Nicobar Islands Set to Soar as World-Class Tourism Hub
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are being transformed into a world-class tourism destination through infrastructure development, heritage promotions, and eco-tourism. Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar announced plans for luxury resorts, a marina, heritage circuit, and skill development programs, aiming to significantly boost tourist numbers and local employment.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are on track to emerge as a world-class tourism hotspot, spearheaded by an extensive development plan unveiled by Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar. This strategy prioritizes infrastructure enhancements, heritage promotion, and eco-tourism initiatives.
Under the guidance of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the plan includes the construction of four five-star resorts and a dedicated marina to boost cruise and private yacht tourism. The archipelago's heritage sites are also receiving attention, with the Cellular Jail aiming for UNESCO World Heritage status, complemented by a new tourism circuit featuring historical and immersive experiences.
The initiatives aim to capitalize on the islands' geographical and cultural assets, including their expansive coastline and potential for water sports and adventure activities. Efforts in skill development for local youth and increased tourist footfall underscore the positive economic impact anticipated for the region.
