A Kanpur Metro employee tragically drowned while bathing in the Saryu river at Shiv Mandir Ghat, according to police reports released on Friday. The 28-year-old, known as Ranjeet, had been on leave and was visiting his home village of Guloura Mathia when the incident occurred.
Locals near the river became concerned when Ranjeet did not surface for an extended period. They promptly notified authorities, prompting Ubhaon Station House Officer Rajendra Prasad Singh and his team to rush to the location. Community efforts combined with police aid helped retrieve Ranjeet's body from the water.
Despite the rescue efforts, Ranjeet was pronounced dead upon reaching the Community Health Centre in Siyar. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, as confirmed by SHO Singh, marking a sorrowful event for the local community and family.
