The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is gearing up to commemorate the International Day of Yoga on June 21 with extensive yoga sessions at eight illustrious locations throughout Lutyens' Delhi. The events will take place from 6 am to 8 am, under the unifying theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'.
According to an official statement released on Friday, the Mass Yoga Protocol Programme will occur at places such as the Lawn at Shanti Path in Chanakyapuri, Lodhi Garden, and Talkatora Garden, among others. NDMC invites the general public, officials, and local residents to actively engage in these beneficial practices.
This annual celebration on June 21 traces its roots to a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. Acknowledging yoga's widespread appeal, the day was chosen to coincide with the Summer Solstice, symbolizing harmony, health, and the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere.
