A local village is on edge following an interfaith marriage that led a panchayat to order its dissolution. The marriage, between a 25-year-old Muslim man from Mahrana village and a woman from the same locality, has faced severe community backlash.
The panchayat, overseen by village elders from Kheri Sanwal, Patuwas, and Mahrana, not only called for the marriage's termination but also decided to ostracize the family of the groom. Dharampal, who led the panchayat meeting, confirmed that efforts to nullify the marriage legally are in progress.
Further complicating matters, the woman, who briefly converted to Islam, has legally reverted to her previous faith. Police have been deployed to maintain order, as the man's family faces exclusion from the community amid concerns about social harmony.
