On Monday, Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asserted the importance of reinforcing ties with the United Kingdom in strategic fields, including textile, horticulture, education, and more. During talks with British Deputy High Commissioner Caroline Rowett, Mann acknowledged the Punjabi diaspora's vital role in the UK economy.
Mann stressed the need for expansive and structured agreements, facilitating knowledge exchange to boost prosperity. He raised concerns over young people's exploitation by fraudulent visa agents, seeking the UK's collaboration to curb these practices and promote legal visa channels.
Rowett commended Punjab's firm stance against drug abuse and highlighted the potential benefits of an impending free trade agreement between India and the UK. The British High Commission's campaign addresses visa fraud issues, offering reliable information via a WhatsApp chatbot.
