Global Citizen has announced that Shakira and The Weeknd will headline the 2025 Global Citizen Festival, set to take place on Central Park's Great Lawn on September 27. The event will also feature performances by Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist, with Hugh Jackman hosting.
Continuing its tradition of drawing top talent, the festival's past lineups have included stars like Post Malone and Doja Cat. Shakira expressed her excitement, saying, "I'm honoured to headline the incredible Global Citizen Festival in Central Park this September. Music connects people and inspires action."
This year, the festival focuses on critical global issues, aiming to provide energy access to 1 million Africans and education to 30,000 children worldwide. In collaboration with FIFA, soccer will also be highlighted. Additionally, the festival seeks to raise USD 200 million for Amazon rainforest protection and engage 40,000 New Yorkers as volunteers.
