Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is set to hoist the national flag at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in August, organizers have announced. This event will be a centerpiece of the festival's Independence Day celebrations, reflecting India's 'vibrant global cultural influence.'

Festival director Mitu Bhowmick Lange praised the flag ceremony as a unifying experience, showcasing India's cultural pride on foreign soil. Aamir Khan, known for his impactful cinema, will lead the moment, symbolizing Indian storytelling's strength and integrity, as well as IFFM's values of equality and unity in diversity.

The IFFM, supported by the Government of Victoria, stands as the largest Indian film festival outside India. It will present over 75 films in 31 languages, alongside panel discussions and events. The festival commences on August 14 with the Australian premiere of 'Baksho Bondi' (Shadowbox), drawing notable guests like Shoojit Sircar and Vir Das.
