On Tuesday, a case was filed following actress Ramya's complaint about online threats and abuse, according to Commissioner of Police, Seemanth Kumar Singh. The Cyber Crime Police Station has registered the case within the Commissioner's Office in Bengaluru.
A deputy commissioner-level officer is overseeing the investigation, Singh added. Ramya had previously met with Singh to file her complaint on July 28, identifying 43 social media accounts responsible for obscene messages, as well as murder and rape threats.
The harassment began when Ramya called out actor Darshan's fans for violent comments, after sharing a report on the Renukaswamy murder case proceedings in the Supreme Court. Actor Darshan is considered a prime suspect in the case. Kannada film industry superstar Shiva Rajkumar voiced his support for Ramya, condemning the abusive language and stressing the importance of respecting women beyond familial roles.
