Nepal's tourism sector is witnessing considerable growth, with over 70,000 tourists arriving by air in July 2025, marking an 8.7% increase from the previous year. Among these international visitors, Indian travelers formed the largest group, highlighting Nepal's continued appeal to its southern neighbor.
Data from the Nepal Tourism Board indicates that in the first seven months of this year, the country welcomed a record 647,882 air travelers, the highest since the post-COVID-19 reopening. Following Indian tourists, other significant numbers came from China, the USA, Bangladesh, and the UK.
According to Nepal Tourism Board CEO Deepak Raj Joshi, the surge is due to promotional programs, private sector investment, and varied tourism products as Nepal embarks on its Visit Nepal Decade (2025-2035). This period focuses on attracting international visitors for both pilgrimage and adventure tourism experiences.
