On Wednesday, British regulators issued a rebuke to both parties embroiled in a dispute impacting Sentebale, the charity established by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. The issue has played out publicly, casting a shadow over the charity's reputation and risking its mission.
The Charity Commission for England and Wales concluded there was no broad evidence of bullying or misogyny within Sentebale, which supports young people with HIV in Botswana and Lesotho. This follows a governance review initiated after Prince Harry and the board's resignation, highlighting irreparable tensions with chair Sophie Chandauka.
Efforts to expand fundraising in the U.S. ignited disputes reported to the commission in early 2025. Prince Harry's spokesman criticized the commission's findings, stating the consequences fall on Sentebale's beneficiaries. Meanwhile, Chandauka welcomed the report for validating concerns she raised earlier. Founded in 2006, Sentebale aims to honor the founders' late mothers.
