The Goa government has introduced the 'Homestay and Bed and Breakfast Scheme,' a significant step to enhance rural and community-based tourism. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant officially launched this initiative at the Secretariat in Porvorim, emphasizing financial incentives for locals managing homestays in hinterland areas.
This scheme aims to boost access to wildlife sanctuaries and village destinations, empowering women operators by providing a platform to showcase their offerings. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has highlighted its alignment with the state's vision of 'Goa Beyond Beaches,' marking a focused effort to promote community-based tourism.
State Tourism Director Kedar Naik outlined the scheme's objectives, including regenerative tourism and support for women and youth entrepreneurs. Eligible establishments will receive a one-time grant and benefit from training, marketing assistance, and promotional support, marking a strategic move from policy to implementation.
