Director Spike Lee's anticipated multi-part documentary series on former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick will not see the light of day, ESPN Films and the filmmaker confirmed. The decision was made after creative differences arose among Lee, Kaepernick, and ESPN, sparking the project's stall.

ESPN, speaking to Reuters, acknowledged the hard work involved but no longer plans to proceed. Lee also confirmed the series' halt at a charity event, stating a nondisclosure prevents him from elaborating further.

The series faced challenges since its inception in 2022. Initially billed as a comprehensive look at Kaepernick's controversial NFL and activist journey, delays ensued due to differing visions. ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro has expressed willingness to let the creators explore other avenues for the series' completion.
