Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu paid tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 81st birth anniversary, officiating the ceremony at Sadbhawana Chowk. Sukhu urged the public to follow Gandhi's vision, describing him as the 'architect of modern India' for his role in national unity and integrity.
Gandhi's legacy in pioneering the information technology revolution remains significant, benefiting the younger generation today. Sukhu also commended Gandhi's efforts in social reforms, notably the 73rd and 74th Constitutional amendments that guaranteed reservations for women in Panchayati Raj institutions.
Carrying forward Gandhi's ideals, Sonia Gandhi facilitated the 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures. Sukhu later led an oath of national integration and communal harmony for officials at the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat, with key figures like Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and state Congress chief Pratibha Singh attending.
