Ballia's Sattu Sale Surges via Post Office Network
Ballia's local staple, sattu, is gaining widespread access through Uttar Pradesh's post offices, launched coinciding with Ballia Balidan Diwas. This move aligns with the ODOP scheme, and if successful, could expand nationally, promoting indigenous products while generating revenue for India Post.

In a boost to local specialties, Ballia's famous sattu is now available through the extensive network of post offices across Uttar Pradesh. The initiative, which aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to promote indigenous products, was inaugurated by Colonel Vinod, Postmaster General of the Varanasi region.
Launched on Ballia Balidan Diwas on August 19, the sale of 'Baghi Ballia' sattu has already been introduced in 100 post offices under the Varanasi postal region, including districts like Varanasi, Chandauli, and Jaunpur. If successful, the scheme will expand to cover all post offices in Uttar Pradesh and eventually the entire country.
The sattu, a versatile product used traditionally as an energy drink or dough for baati, will be directly supplied from Ballia to ensure fair pricing for consumers and enhance revenue for India Post. Col. Vinod revealed that experimental flavors like rose and chocolate are planned, though traditional varieties will remain available.
