World War II Relic Discovered: Hong Kong Bomb Defused Safely
A large US-made World War II bomb was discovered at a construction site in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong. Due to high risks, 6,000 residents were evacuated so experts could defuse it safely. The operation began Friday night and concluded successfully Saturday morning without injuries.

In an urgent overnight operation, thousands were evacuated from Hong Kong's Quarry Bay district after a large World War II-era bomb was discovered at a construction site. Experts confirmed the bomb was a US-made artifact, measuring 1.5 meters and weighing approximately 1,000 pounds.
Police official Andy Chan Tin-Chu informed the press that the high-risk nature of the bomb's disposal necessitated the swift evacuation of 1,900 households, impacting around 6,000 individuals. The meticulous operation commenced late Friday and concluded safely by Saturday mid-morning.
This isn't the first time Hong Kong has encountered such relics, as World War II bombs occasionally resurface. The city's occupation by Japanese forces during the war made it a perpetual target for Allied air raids, aimed at disrupting military and supply infrastructures.
