Emotional Farewell: Assam Mourns Iconic Singer Zubeen Garg

Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg's body embarked on its final journey from Guwahati airport to his residence in Kahilipara on Sunday morning, drawing throngs of mourners eager for a last glimpse of the beloved artist.
The procession moved slowly through packed streets, with fans showering flowers on the ambulance carrying Garg's remains. As the flight from Delhi landed, his wife Garima Saikia Garg paid tribute with an Assamese 'gamosa' at the airport before accompanying the body home.
Thousands sang his songs and crowded the streets, holding cut-outs and shouting 'Jai Zubeen da'. Garg's body will be accessible for public homage at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, while final rites and cremation details are pending an Assam Cabinet decision.
