In preparation for the immersion of Durga Puja idols, Kolkata Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) have implemented a comprehensive plan to ensure safety across the city. With special personnel deployment and precautionary measures in place, the city aims to manage the immersion process smoothly, officials confirmed on Thursday.

A senior KMC official reported that approximately 3,500 pujas have been organized in the city, including 250 household events. Despite the majority of immersions occurring after Dashami, authorities have ensured that preparations at all key sites commenced well in advance. Executive engineers will supervise operations at these locations, the official noted.

Kolkata Police, together with Disaster Management Group units, has enhanced security measures with ambulances, lighting, and CCTV at important ghats. Drone surveillance, watchtowers, and the River Traffic Police will also be active. To mitigate environmental impact, the state's Environment Department has set up bamboo enclosures and instructed officials to manage immersion waste meticulously.
