The Government of Goa has unveiled an ambitious initiative, the Goa Startup Policy 2025, which seeks to establish 1,000 startups in the state and generate employment for 10,000 Goans. It also has specific provisions aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs, an official announced on Friday.
Designed to transform Goa into India's "creative capital," the policy aims to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem by linking startups with venture funding and fostering collaborations with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and educational institutions. Currently, Goa boasts 696 DPIIT-recognized startups, according to the Department of State Information Technology, Electronics and Communication (DITEC).
The policy outlines its plan to position Goa as a leading startup hub by 2028. It includes measurable goals such as providing venture funding to 100 startups and establishing collaborations with 50 startups. The policy also supports student innovations and skill development in cutting-edge technologies, enhancing Goa's reputation as a burgeoning center of creativity and technology.
