Star Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu showcased her prowess by securing a silver medal at the World Championships in the 48kg weight category. This achievement adds another feather to her cap, following her 2017 world champion title and 2022 silver medal.

Chanu's performance was marked by determination. After an initial struggle in the snatch segment, she found her rhythm in the clean and jerk, successfully executing lifts of 109kg, 112kg, and 115kg, reminiscent of her silver-winning effort at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Celebrating her podium finish, Chanu expressed her satisfaction, viewing it as a confidence booster for future competitions, including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Chief coach Vijay Sharma highlighted this as a significant phase in her career, with eyes set on the Commonwealth and Asian Games. North Korea's Ri Song Gum secured gold with a world record total of 213kg, while Thailand's Thanyathon Sukcharoen took home bronze.
