Blast Investigation: Uncovering the Cause Behind Kerala Fireworks Factory Tragedy

A devastating explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Mundathicode, Thrissur district, has left at least 13 people dead and many injured. A comprehensive investigation, led by a Special Investigation Team under the Thrissur City Police Commissioner, is underway to determine the exact cause of the blast.

Kerala State Police Chief Ravada A Chandrasekhar revealed that forensic teams from nearby districts would aid the probe. The incident occurred during preparations for Thrissur Pooram, sparking concern over safety standards in firework production. The DGP emphasized that all possible angles, including forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts, would be explored.

The tragedy struck at around 3:30 pm on a Tuesday, with further intermittent explosions hampering rescue efforts. Authorities are currently assessing whether sabotage played a role and ensuring that all potential victims are accounted for in the ongoing investigation.
