Director B Unnikrishnan submitted his resignation as general secretary of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) on Friday. However, the organization rejected his decision during a general council meeting later that day.
Unnikrishnan, who has served since 2008, cited personal reasons and advocated for a change in leadership, highlighting that consolidating power for 18 years was not ideal. Despite his intentions to resign, members persuaded him to continue, agreeing he would remain less actively involved.
FEFKA, which supports the Kerala film industry with financial stability and welfare programs including retirement benefits and monthly pensions, stands on solid ground. Unnikrishnan believes the organization is well-positioned for a leadership transition but will now continue to serve alongside President Siby Malayil, focusing on maintaining stability and addressing industry workforce issues.
