Churches Choose Charity Over Fireworks in Feasts
Several Malankara Orthodox churches in Kerala have decided to replace fireworks with charitable activities during their annual feasts. This decision follows a tragic explosion at a fireworks unit in Mundathikode. Funds saved from fireworks will support charitable initiatives, including aid for persons with disabilities.

Following the tragic explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Mundathikode, which claimed 15 lives, several Malankara Orthodox churches in Kerala have made a significant decision.
Guided by an appeal from the head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, these churches will forgo fireworks during their annual feasts.
Instead, funds will be channeled toward charitable activities, including supporting individuals with disabilities. St George Orthodox Church, Puthuppally, along with others, has already announced the redirection of funds to charity for safety and community welfare.
