FLO has inked agreements with Garuda Aerospace, NEOSKY India, and YRG to roll out a skilling programme aimed at training 1,000 women as drone pilots by March next year. This initiative marks an effort to integrate women into India's burgeoning drone industry.
The Indian drone sector is projected to become a Rs 30,000 crore industry by 2030, with applications across agriculture, logistics, surveillance, and disaster management. Through its 22 chapters across India, FLO aims to move women from the periphery of technology to its nucleus, thus building a robust cadre of women drone professionals.
FLO President Puja Garg emphasized that this effort is about translating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Drone Didi' vision into reality. By targeting 1,000 DGCA-certified women pilots by March 2027, this project not only empowers women but also serves as a long-term national investment.
