In a case closely observed by multiple religious communities, the Madhya Pradesh High Court concluded hearings regarding the religious nature of the disputed Bhojshala Temple-Kamal Maula Mosque complex. Justices Vijay Kumar Shukla and Alok Awasthi, part of the Indore bench, have been diligent in addressing the matter comprehensively since April 6.
The contentious issue revolves around whether the structure is primarily a Hindu temple, a Muslim mosque, or has origins as a Jain temple. Advocates from each faction presented historical evidence and interpretations, trying to assert control over the site considered sacred by all three communities.
The monument, protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), was reported to have originated from the reign of the Parmar kings. Additional Solicitor General Sunil Kumar Jain defended the ASI's extensive report, which was challenged by the Muslim community for alleged bias. The High Court reserved its judgement, leaving the outcome in suspense.
