In a testament to resilience and skill, Lakshay Phogat emerged as India's sole finalist at the Asian Boxing U-17 Championships 2026, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Phogat delivered an exceptional performance in the 75kg category, defeating Korea's Seungmin Lee with a commanding 5:0 unanimous decision, securing his place in the final.

Meanwhile, four Indian boxers clinched bronze medals after their hard-fought semifinal bouts. Narendra Nella suffered a 0:5 defeat in the 46kg semifinal against Uzbekistan's Abdulloh Nuraliev, while Yash Yadav, Nivesh Pal, and Naman faced similar fates, showcasing their potential in closely contested matches.

On the women's front, India's young female boxers displayed remarkable talents. Notably, Navya progressed to the final in the 57kg category with an emphatic RSC win over Mongolia's Dagiimaa Chuluutumur. With several promising results, the Indian U-17 team aims to deliver a strong performance in the upcoming finals.
