In a significant display of influence, the RSS-backed West Bengal University Karmachari Parishad conducted drills and 'sakha activities' at Jadavpur University, a stronghold long associated with Left-leaning politics.
Members of the Parishad gathered at the football ground early Tuesday to engage in intellectual sessions and declare a move to 're-nationalise' the campus, aiming to reduce Maoist influences. Secretary Palash Maji announced future activities intending to promote nationalism, including physical training and ideological discussions.
This development follows a rally by pro-RSS employees and aligns with the organization's strategy to expand its reach within educational institutions amid the BJP's political rise in Bengal. Furthermore, the installation of a photo of BJP ideologue Syama Prasad Mookerjee in the Vice-Chancellor's office has stirred discussions about shifting campus dynamics and symbolism.
