Veteran actor Shekhar Suman inaugurates the Shekhar Suman Film Academy in Mumbai, providing aspiring actors with practical industry skills. The academy offers a three-month program focusing on voice training, camera performance, and practical acting sessions, aimed at fostering new talent in a small, focused setting.
Veteran actor Shekhar Suman has officially launched the Shekhar Suman Film Academy (SSFA) in Mumbai, a dedicated institution aimed at equipping aspiring actors with the necessary practical skills to flourish in the film industry.
During discussions with ANI, Suman of 'Heeramandi' fame, revealed that his desire to share his extensive experience with budding artists inspired the academy's creation, drawing motivation from his late father.
Emphasizing practical over theoretical learning, Suman stated: "Acting is a hands-on skill, and at the SSFA, our programs will reflect that with an emphasis on practical training over mere theory." The academy, opened in April 2026, aims to maintain a focus on quality by limiting initial enrolments to 15 students per batch.
With a curriculum that spans three months, students of SSFA will engage in voice training, camera performance, and character building, culminating in a final film project to showcase their acquired skills. The initiative hopes not only to train actors but to also elevate the standards of language proficiency within the industry.
