In a daring and disturbing incident, a 72-year-old chartered accountant was kidnapped from his residence in south Delhi's Sainik Farms. The brazen assault, carried out by three men, involved robbery, assault, and an attempted extortion of Rs 50 lakh, police reported on Wednesday.

The victim was alone when the attackers forcibly entered his house, overpowering and restraining him with tape before looting belongings. The assailants fled with Rs 5 lakh in cash, jewelry, and important documents, subsequently forcing the victim to accompany them in his vehicle.

Despite their efforts to extort money, the plan fell apart, leading the kidnappers to abandon the victim and car on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Police, after a 36-hour pursuit, apprehended two suspects and continue to hunt for the third. Authorities have made some recoveries, including cash and the victim's belongings, while investigations are ongoing.
