Quinta Brunson to star as Betty Boop

Actor and comedian Quinta Brunson is set to feature and develop a film on the world's most famous cartoon flapper, Betty Boop.

Brunson's company, Fifth Chance Productions, has partnered with Mark Fleischer, grandson of Betty Boop creator Max Fleischer, and Fleischer Studios on the project, which is currently in development and overseen by Fifth Chance's head of creative affairs, Erin Wehrenberg, according to the entertainment news outlet Variety.

The animated cartoon character, created by Max Fleischer and designed by animator Grim Natwick for Fleischer Studios, first appeared on screen in 1930. She went on to emerge as the world's first female animated screen superstar and appeared in 127 official theatrical cartoons between 1930 and 1939.

''When Quinta first approached me with the unique concept of a movie about the relationship of my grandfather, Max Fleischer, and his creation, Betty Boop, I was breathtaken.
