Kashmir Leadership Barred from Conducting Eid Prayers

In a recurring development for the eighth consecutive year, authorities in Kashmir have denied permission for Eid prayers at key historic sites, including the Eidgah and Jama Masjid. Prominent religious figure Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also placed under house arrest.
Expressing frustration, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq shared on social media that the community continues to face restrictions in celebrating Eid. He highlighted that many children are growing up without experiencing the traditional Eid prayers at these cherished locations, which has long been part of their cultural and spiritual heritage. Mirwaiz condemned the actions as an infringement on religious identity and fundamental rights, asserting that spiritual connections cannot be broken by force.
