A family trip turned into a heartbreaking incident when four individuals, including a couple and two teens, tragically drowned at a dam in Nashik, Maharashtra. The outing, which was meant to be a simple picnic at the Kashyapi dam on Tuesday evening, ended in grief.
The victims included Sachin Kailas Thombre from Makhamalabad, his wife Rohini, and two neighborhood teenagers, Ketan and Kaushal Anil Pawar. They visited the dam with the couple's two-year-old daughter, who was later saved by a passerby, Sangita Ghadge. The child was found moving towards the reservoir, repeatedly calling for her parents.
Local residents were alerted after Ghadge noticed footwear on the dam bank, which led to the recovery of the bodies. The identities were confirmed after a call on Rohini's phone, revealing that she was also pregnant at the time.
Authorities have registered an accidental death case and are pursuing further investigations as they look into the sequence of events leading to this tragedy at the Kashyapi river reservoir.
