President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico has fulfilled a promise by donating her ticket to the World Cup's opening match to Yolett Cervantes Cuaquehua, a talented 21-year-old Indigenous athlete from Veracruz. Sheinbaum's gesture highlights youth talent in soccer.

In a symbolic ceremony, Sheinbaum presented ticket No. 00001 to Cervantes Cuaquehua, who won a contest showcasing her ball-handling prowess. She emphasized that these athletes represent the pride of Mexico, not merely political figures. Additional tickets to matches in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey were given to three other amateur athletes. The president's decision, citing the opportunity for young female players to shine, drew mixed responses across the country.
