Kher argued that there is no designated retirement age in the entertainment sphere, echoing sentiments of disappointment among industry peers.

After David Dhawan revealed that the project starring his son Varun Dhawan would be his last directorial effort, Kher, a long-time collaborator, discussed the decision with Dhawan, expressing his disapproval. Kher stated, "Who are you to decide this is your last film? If audiences love you, don't mark an end."

Prominent filmmakers, including Karan Johar, have lauded Dhawan's substantial impact on Indian cinema, particularly in defining the Bollywood comedy genre. Despite his announced retirement, Dhawan's films remain influential, with his latest slated for a June 5 release.
