Tensions Escalate at LoC Amidst Unprovoked Firing: Indian Army Responds

The Indian Army has proportionately responded to unprovoked small-arms and artillery fire from the Pakistani Army across the Line of Control (LoC) during the nights of May 7th and 8th. According to officials, the firing targeted locations in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports indicate that these actions follow an escalation in hostilities after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. In retaliation, Indian forces executed precise strikes against nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under Operation Sindoor, targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders and camps.
The Pakistani Army continued ceasefire violations, shelling civilian areas in Poonch and Tangdhar, resulting in 15 civilian deaths and 43 injuries. The artillery fire has caused significant damage to homes, inciting panic among villagers. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann condemned the attacks on civilians and conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.
