In a tragic incident, a helicopter crash occurred near Ganganani in Uttarkashi district on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuring several others. The helicopter, which was carrying six passengers along with its captain, met with the accident during the ongoing Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami promptly responded by expressing grief over the incident. He shared his condolences via an official post on 'X' and ensured that the SDRF and district administration teams were swiftly deployed to the crash site for relief and rescue operations. He emphasized that all necessary assistance would be provided to the injured and ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

Visual evidence from the crash site portrays devastating scenes of the helicopter's mangled interior. Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed that rescue teams were mobilized as soon as the news broke. However, the cause of the crash remains unknown. The Chardham Yatra, a significant annual pilgrimage in the region, had recently commenced, with portals to the Kedarnath Dham and Badrinath temple opening earlier this month.
