In a bid to ensure public safety, the Border Security Force (BSF) has suspended the Beating Retreat ceremonies at three key border check posts with Pakistan in Punjab—Attari-Wagah, Hussainwala, and Sadki—until further notice. Despite this, the daily ritual of lowering the national flag at sunset will persist, according to an official BSF statement.
This measure follows the destruction of nine terrorist bases by Indian forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoJK). The operations were a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. In retaliation, India executed 'Operation Sindoor' targeting terror infrastructures controlled by groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting with top secretaries of various ministries to assess national preparedness. Stressing the importance of seamless coordination, the meeting focused on reviewing the preparedness and operational continuity across departments. PM Modi highlighted the significance of maintaining synergy and efficient communication as the nation navigates through these sensitive times. (ANI)
