State-owned Coal India Ltd (CIL) has entered into a significant agreement with AM Green Ammonia (India) Pvt Ltd to supply approximately 4,500 MW of green power to new ammonia facilities. The move marks a major step towards sustainable energy, leveraging solar and wind power generation.
This partnership, formalized on Wednesday, positions CIL as a key player in India's green energy landscape. It includes plans for solar infrastructure of 2,500 MW to 3,000 MW, with wind power adding another 1,500 MW to 2,000 MW. The total investment is estimated to be around Rs 25,000 crores.
The initiative will see project sites for wind energy explored in South India, while solar power projects will be developed in sunny regions like Gujarat and Rajasthan. This green energy will be integrated with pumped hydro storage to ensure consistent power supply to AM Green facilities, aligning with India's sustainability goals.
