Trump Administration Ramps Up Sanctions on Chinese Oil Refineries Over Iranian Oil Deals
The Trump administration sanctioned Chinese refineries and port operators for importing Iranian oil, ahead of a new round of U.S.-Iran nuclear talks. The sanctions target Hebei Xinhai Chemical Group and Dongying Port operators, aiming to curb Iran’s oil revenue and pressure Tehran on its nuclear program.

The Trump administration intensified its sanctions strategy on Thursday, singling out Chinese refineries and port facilities for their involvement in the importation of Iranian oil. This move comes in anticipation of a potential fourth round of nuclear negotiations with Iran.
Among the entities named by the U.S. Treasury Department are the Hebei Xinhai Chemical Group and several companies operating out of Dongying Port in Shandong Province. These organizations have been accused of purchasing and facilitating the delivery of substantial amounts of Iranian oil, contravening U.S. foreign policy objectives.
Despite the sanctions, analysts argue that these measures alone may not significantly alter the trajectory of Iranian oil exports, as the focus remains on independent refineries rather than larger state-owned enterprises. Observers believe that without concrete action against such enterprises, the impact on Beijing's oil import practices may be limited.
