Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored the legendary Rajput leader Maharana Pratap on his birth anniversary, acknowledging his timeless role in India's freedom legacy. Maharana Pratap was born on May 9, 1540.

In a message on X, CM Yogi highlighted, "Tributes to the immortal son of mother Bharati, the eternal voice of independence, and the 'Hindu Sun', Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap on his revered birth anniversary! Maharana, who gave everything for his nation, faith, and pride, stands as India's great hero and people's leader. His personality, rich in democratic ideals, will continue to guide humanity's challenges." Maharana Pratap, the Rajput ruler of Mewar, famously opposed Akbar at the Battle of Haldighati in 1576.

CM Yogi Adityanath remarked on the Congress era's historical portrayal, which elevated Akbar while diminishing Maharana Pratap's significance. Previously, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had claimed that Maharana Pratap was a true national hero whose bravery was not only an inspiration to Indians but also internationally, inspiring even Vietnamese in their struggle during the U.S.-Vietnam War.
