Nellore Railway Station was a hub of activity as the Dog Squad, GRP, and local police carried out meticulous inspections under the direct orders from Nellore's District SP and Guntakal Railway SP. Every part of the station, from platforms to the parcel office, was scrutinized in light of recent security threats.
Railway DSP Muralidhar detailed the response initiated after the Pahalgam attack, emphasizing collaboration between local and railway police forces across multiple stations including Gudur and Kavali. The security personnel, including about 100 officers, meticulously canvassed the area through a coordinated effort that also extended to nearby hotels and bus stands.
Complementing these efforts, a full-scale mock drill unfolded at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The exercise, orchestrated by RPF and involving GRP, MSF, and Home Guards, reinforced readiness in one of the country's major terminals, aligning with nationwide high alert status.
Assistant Security Commissioner Ranjit Kumar Bezbaruah highlighted the joint operation's scope, which encompassed extensive sweeps of trains and passenger screenings. Over 100 security personnel, bolstered by 22 sniffer dogs, participated in the intensive checks at CSMT, underscoring the gravity of the current security climate.
Central Railway's CPRO, Swapnil Nila, contextualized these drills as part of ongoing high-security measures. At sites like CSMT, the emphasis remains on constant vigilance with robust security apparatus always at the ready.
Following directives from the Union Home Ministry, states are intensifying mock drills to enhance Civil Defence capacities. Goals center on the effectiveness of air raid warning systems and the preparation of civilian response strategies amid potential hostilities, signaling a broader, preventive security stance adopted by the government.
