In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police Foreigners Cell of the North-West District apprehended three individuals suspected to be illegal Bangladeshi migrants. The operation, which followed an intense surveillance exercise, also led to the seizure of four smart phones equipped with the banned IMO app, used to communicate with family members in Bangladesh.
The crackdown is part of a targeted initiative named 'Operation Face Wash,' aimed at unearthing illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the region. In May 2025, intelligence reports indicated a cluster of Bangladeshi nationals posing as transgender individuals engaging in activities like begging at traffic signals to avert suspicion, necessitating this high-level intervention.
On Thursday, after several days of technical and manual surveillance, authorities were tipped off about the presence of three such individuals near Azadpur New Sabzi Mandi. In a well-coordinated move, the suspects were apprehended and interrogated, revealing their illegal entry into India with agent help through porous borders. The investigation continues as the individuals are now under the custody of FRRO, RK Puram, awaiting deportation to Bangladesh.
