Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Gujarat government has taken urgent action by canceling all approved leaves for its officers and employees, implementing these changes with immediate effect. This decision was announced by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, who has instructed department heads to ensure compliance.
Effective immediately, all forms of leave for employees across numerous divisions, including state-run bodies and autonomous organizations, have been revoked. Patel underscores the need for officers and employees on leave to promptly return to duty. Additionally, all personnel are required to seek approval before leaving their headquarters.
In anticipation of potentially escalating tensions, Gujarat's Chief Minister has held a high-level review meeting to assess the state's readiness, particularly in border districts. Patel interacted via video conference with key administrative and police officials, addressing critical areas like evacuation, civil defense, and communication systems, in a session attended by top state officials and defense forces.
The meeting emphasized uninterrupted operation of control rooms and emergency centers, and alternative communication like satellite phones to ensure connectivity during emergencies. Activation of evacuation plans in border villages was mandated, along with preparation of essential resources like drinking water, food, and fuel.
Preparations to counter supply chain disruptions encompass stockpiling essential goods, while the Health and Transport Departments are deploying medical staff and facilities efficiently. Surveillance enhancement and public safety evaluations in sensitive zones were advised to district authorities, alongside initiating a state-wide campaign against public misinformation. Official updates are to be disseminated through government social media.
Swift administrative response in case of suspicious activities, especially near borders, is crucial according to Patel. The Chief Minister commended the coordinated efforts of armed forces and central agencies, reiterating the state's commitment to supporting border security personnel in ensuring safety and stability during heightened alertness.
