In a key meeting on Friday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda evaluated the preparedness of India's emergency health systems alongside senior ministry officers. The current status of medical readiness for emergencies was presented, highlighting the deployment of ambulances and the sufficiency of medical supplies, including necessary equipment, medicines, and blood.
Central hospitals like AIIMS New Delhi are mobilizing resources and personnel to reinforce collaborative emergency response measures involving state and district administrations, the armed forces, and private sector health facilities. The health institutions have been urged to ensure the ready availability of essential drugs and resources, including trauma care kits and oxygen.
The country has conducted nationwide mock drills to boost disaster readiness, with training modules in CPR and basic life support being introduced in partnership with the Indian Red Cross Society and other key institutions. Union Health Secretary reported on efforts for state and center coordination, emphasizing the importance of functional emergency health systems and strategic ground-level linkages, especially in border states.
